About ReiDefine Wellness
A Black-owned, culturally responsive mental health practice in Edmonton, Alberta, founded on lived experience, rooted in decolonizing care.
Our Story
ReiDefine Wellness was co-founded by Latoya Reid, MSW, RSW, Dip. Ed. and Alric Reid in Edmonton, Alberta. What began as a response to the racism our children experienced in the education system grew into a mission to create a space where people could access mental health care without leaving their identity, culture, or lived experience at the door.
We are the first all-Black-owned brick-and-mortar private practice in Canada with multi-provincial reach: serving clients across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario through in-person and secure virtual sessions.
Our work is deeply personal. It is informed by our own experiences navigating systems that were not built for us, and by our commitment to building something different: a practice where healing is grounded in cultural understanding, anti-oppressive values, and authentic human connection.
Today, ReiDefine Wellness provides trauma therapy, psychological services, assessments, consultation, parent coordination, Hear the Child evaluations, harm assessments, parent-child reunification services, motor vehicle accident support, Veterans and military family care, and organizational wellness services. Our clinical team includes social workers, psychologists, counsellors, life coaches, and practicum students who bring both professional expertise and lived experience to every interaction.

Latoya also co-hosted "Let's Unpack That," a radio show on My Radio 580AM that explored mental health, culture, identity, and healing through open conversation.
Alric Reid - Co-Director, Mental Health Consultant & Life Coach

Alric is the Co-Director of ReiDefine Wellness and brings a unique combination of life coaching, mental health consultation, and Critical Incident training to his craft. He is passionate about men's mental health, fatherhood, identity, and creating spaces where people, especially men and boys, can show up authentically.
Alric leads the D.R.A.F.T.E.D. for Greatness program, an 8-week life skills initiative for Black boys and young men ages 12–17, and co-hosted "Let's Unpack That" on My Radio 580AM alongside Latoya. He also leads ReiDefine Wellness's process serving division.
His approach is grounded in lived experience, cultural understanding, and a belief that healing happens when people feel genuinely seen and heard.
Our Mission
Our mission is to provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and decolonizing mental health care that honours each person's identity, culture, and lived experience. We believe that healing is not about fixing what is broken; it is about reconnecting with the strength, resilience, and wisdom that already exist within you.
Our Values
Culturally Responsive Care
We honour your cultural identity and integrate cultural understanding into every aspect of your healing journey. Your background is not a barrier; it is the foundation.
Trauma-Informed Approach
Safety, choice, collaboration, trustworthiness, and empowerment guide everything we do, from intake to discharge.
Authenticity & Lived Experience
Our team brings both professional training and personal experience to the work. We don't ask you to perform wellness; we walk alongside you in the real, messy, human process of healing.
Anti-Oppressive Practice
We acknowledge power imbalances and work actively to create an environment of equity, respect, and safety. We name systemic harm and centre your experience.
Decolonizing Practice
We challenge colonial frameworks in mental health and create space for Indigenous, Black, racialized, and marginalized ways of knowing, healing, and being.
Accessibility
We strive to make therapy and assessments accessible through sliding scale options, virtual sessions across three provinces, and inclusive, affirming practices.
Our Clinical Team
Our team comprises registered social workers, psychologists, counsellors, life coaches, and practicum students across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario. Every clinician on our team is committed to culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and decolonizing practice. We match clients with practitioners based on their needs, preferences, and goals.
